To meet the DG Set room’s insertion loss requirement of 25 dBA, each site’s intake air and hot air discharge attenuators are custom-made for that location.
Diesel generating sets between 7.5 and 1000 kVA were required by the MOEF in 2005 to limit the sound level to 75 dBa at 1 mtr. in accordance with international norms. A change to the Environmental Protection rules was adopted in order to put this into action. All generators had to be fitted with acoustic enclosures as of January 1, 2005, according to this amendment.
DG set rooms without individual acoustic enclosures can now be treated as soundproofed under new MoEF guidelines.
